Catasauqua: Lenten dinner canceled, take-out sale continues

St. Mary’s Catholic Church has canceled its Lenten dinner planned for March 20.

The church is still having its Lenten take-out sale of cabbage and noodles, egg salad, egg salad with green olives or tuna salad with hard-boiled egg.

Pick-up is scheduled for 4:30-6 p.m. April 2.

For prices or other information, call the parish office at 610-264-0332.

If anyone prepaid for a fish dinner, contact the parish office regarding your refund or email kim.stmarys122@gmail.com.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., is closed until March 30 because of the threat of COVID-19.

The shop will reopen March 30 with a half-price sale.

The store is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Proceeds from the thrift shop are returned to the community.

Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., will be closed for two weeks due to Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s mandate to close all nonessential businesses.

The ham raffle that was scheduled for March 28 will be rescheduled.

Post 215 anticipates reopening March 31.

Catasauqua and North Catasauqua will celebrate Independence Day with a gala celebration beginning 11 a.m. July 4 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St., and ending with fireworks at dusk at the Alumni Field football stadium, 850 Pine St.

The J4 committee is asking for contributions to help with the event. Donations of $200 or more will be listed in the J4 newsletter as a special donor. All donors will be listed on a patron list displayed at the park. Those who give $100 or more will be listed as a red patron; those who give $50 to $99 will be listed as a white patron; and donors who give $49 and under will be listed as a blue patron.

Make checks payable to J4 Celebration and send to J4 Committee, P.O. Box 224, Catasauqua, 18032, by April 10.
