Effective immediately, Lehigh County will be postponing its Household Hazardous Waste collection event until further notice.

As the COVID-19 virus continues to be monitored, Lehigh County is taking every precaution to protect all residents, staff, and volunteers from infection.

The decision was made by County Executive Armstrong along with General Services Director Rick Molchany with the community’s healthy and safety in mind.

Be advised there are currently no confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 in Lehigh County.

However, due to the increasing number of cases in surrounding counties, it is within the best interest of residents that the event is postponed pending a new date.

Lehigh County notified the state Departments of Agriculture and Environmental Protection for further consultation on the event’s status. The decision to postpone was met with positive approval from both departments.

Residents who already preregistered for the event will be put at the top of the list when a new date is announced. Their registration is not lost. For those who have yet to register, the event link will become inactive on the website until there are more details on the new date.

As of March 13, Gov. Tom Wolf strongly encouraged the suspension of large gatherings, events, and conferences of 250 individuals or more for 14 days. This also includes individuals travelling to public spaces such as gyms, shopping malls, and movie theaters.

With this in mind, Lehigh County is taking every precaution to ensure its residents follow the best practices possible to avoid the spread of COVID-19

Lehigh County is urging all residents to prepare themselves and work against the COVID-19 virus. This include washing hands for 20 seconds, refraining from any unnecessary touches to the face, and to stay home if sick.
