Girl Scouts learn about notable women

The Parkland Service Unit of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania recently participated in World Thinking Day 2020 at Union Lutheran Church, Neffs.

This year’s focus was on diversity, equity and inclusion.

The Scouts learned about notable women, such as Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon in 1967, and Ruby Bridges, the first black child to integrate a white school in Louisiana in 1960.

Both overcame gender-based obstacles.
