The “SmokeEaters” exhibit by photographer Peter Keady will be held from March 14 through April 26 in the Banko Family Room Gallery, Banana Factory, 25 W. Third St. There is an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. on First Friday, April 3, and features an artist talk.

Keady, the Palmer Municipal Fire Department chaplain, documents the day-to-day lives of the department’s volunteer firefighters

The term ‘smoke eater’ refers to the time when firefighters did not have self-contained breathing apparatus and breathed in smoke, while experiencing sights, smells and sounds that can linger and later develop into post-traumatic stress disorder.
