LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Article By: SAUCON VALLEY HS NEWS - Springing into action Kiera Sager

With little to no sign of any snow or winter weather left, spring sunshine and temperatures are making their way back, and everyone seems to be very happy about it! With spring comes another batch of school activities and sports for the students and community to participate in and get excited about.

Performing live at Saucon Valley HS March 5-8, the musical “Hello Dolly” finally made its debut in front of hundreds of students, parents, and other members of the Saucon Valley community. After practicing for months on end, the Saucon Valley student actors and actresses were finally able to showcase all of their hard work and talent, with senior Martina Fedorowicz playing the lead role of “Dolly.” One father of another senior actress, Faith Luffy, involves himself in the program by helping with the sets and behind the scenes of multiple of Saucon Valley’s plays and musicals.

“Until my daughter Faith found her love for the arts, I never realized how much work went into a musical performance,” said Mike Luffy. “I’m humbled to play a small part in the big family that works very hard to put on a show.”

Of course, with the spring season comes a new array of school sports. The athletes of Saucon Valley will soon be beginning their girls and boys lacrosse seasons, boys baseball and girls softball seasons, boys tennis season, and girls and boys track season. Practices have already begun and athletes are preparing for the official start of games/matches/meets in late March, early April. The girls lacrosse team will be working hard toward obtaining its fourth consecutive district championship in the months to follow, with new head coach Helen Deegan leading the way.

The musical and spring sports aren’t all there is to look forward to in the upcoming months for Saucon Valley students, though. Saucon Valley’s Prom 2020 is scheduled for May 1, taking place at Blue Grillhouse. The theme for this year’s Prom is “The Roaring 20s,” quite fittingly.

Another largely anticipated event that the spring always holds is Saucon Valley’s Mini-THON. This year, it is scheduled to take place May 9. Students who choose to participate will dance and resist the urge to sit for 12 hours straight, all while taking part in a number of activities and raising money for children with cancer. A more detailed schedule of the exact activities and events taking place within the larger event as a whole will be released as it gets closer to the date in which Mini-THON is taking place. Stay tuned.
