STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Q. Who are the members of your family: parents, siblings and pets?
A. My family is composed of my mom and dad and our two chocolate labs, Buster and Bella.
Q. What do you most enjoy about being a senior at Emmaus High School?
A. I would say the thing I enjoy most about being a senior is the greater sense of independence from teachers at school. This is the first year where the majority of teachers start to treat students as adults rather than children and prepare them for life after high school.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is U.S government because I think it is incredibly important to be knowledgeable regarding how our government and country operates.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I received the Scholar Athlete award in the fall for the Emmaus golf team.
Q. What are your favorite extracurricular activities?
A. My favorite activities are the debate and mock trial teams at school. Out of school my favorite activity is playing baseball for Lower Macungie.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. My next goal after high school is to attend college with a major in education and political science. After college I hope to attend law school and become a public defense attorney.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge to date has been maintaining the balance between everything I am involved in. School, work and activities all pose different challenges and being able to continue my involvement in extracurriculars while holding a job and maintaining my grades is a significant challenge.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered as someone who always put forth their best effort and was a hard worker. I don’t expect to be the best at anything I do but I expect to be the person who puts in the most work and effort.
Q. Whom do you admire? Why?
A. A group of people I admire are the teachers at EHS who help students grow as people as well as academically. I would not be the same person I am today without the support and influence of some of my teachers. Putting in the extra effort to help students is extremely admirable to me and I want to thank the teachers who have done this for me, especially Mr. J. F. Pirro.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. The main piece of advice I have for my peers and students in or entering high school is to not stress about grades too much. It’s incredibly important to get good grades in high school, but at the same time it is incredibly important to grow as a person and become someone that you are proud to be. Spend time doing things that you enjoy and find what you’re passionate about because that’s something that is with you forever.
