During the Feb. 20 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, approval was noted for six volunteers approved for the volunteer service earned income program. Those applicants are: William Henry, Donald Hoffman II, Scott Lichtenwalner, Gabriel McNabb, Scott Nigro and Nicholas Wassa.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has submitted a notification of re-evaluating the data models for the flood risk project. This will necessitate surveying, which will occur mostly on public land. However, there may be a need to do the same on private property but landowners will be advised.

A new member of the environmental advisory council was chosen. Ted Wells will be the new member and his term will expire Jan. 1, 2023.

The Taco Bell project for Hamilton Boulevard was discussed. The developers are ready to begin and are asking for a reconstruction agreement. Due to the early warmer weather, they want to begin clearing the land. This was approved.

Road maintenance was discussed and roads are being considered for maintenance and repair. Bids for these projects will open as of March 11.

The lateral sewer project is also being processed. The replacement project will be open for bids March 23.

The township is considering Cintas for uniforms and rug and carpet cleaning. This contract will be valid for three years. This was approved.
