Household hazardous waste collection set for March 28

Lehigh County is sponsoring a household hazardous waste collection event on March 28.

The event will be for county residents looking to dispose of hazardous materials that normally cannot be thrown out or recycled.

To avoid any illegal dumping, the location of the event will be given once a resident preregisters on the Lehigh County website.

The registration link can be found right on the county’s main homepage.

Once there, one can find out what items will be accepted and which waste materials are not permitted.

Items such as electronic waste, explosives, prescription drugs, etc. are all examples of waste that should be left at home.

Residents, however, are encouraged to bring items such as disinfectants, drain cleaners, herbicide/pesticides, etc.

For registration, home addresses will be verified to ensure only Lehigh County residents partake in the event.

Without verification, you cannot register.

Appointment slots will be available for ease of access so waste can be taken efficiently and quickly.

Time slots will be upheld, and all participants are asked to honor their scheduled drop off time like any other appointment.

Valid ID with a current address along with appointment confirmation is required upon arrival.

Drop offs will be seamless as contractors will remove the materials from vehicles for the residents via an assembly line and motion them to the exit.

The entire process will be very quick, and should take no longer than 30 minutes to properly drop off the waste.

Volunteers are needed to help assist with directing traffic and greeting the public to help get people in and out.

No commercial waste will be accepted from commercial entities.

This is an event strictly for Lehigh County residents.
