Looking forward, Eastern Salisbury Fire Department will host a PPL Line Electrical Safety Exhibit 6:30 p.m. April 20. The event will be held at SHS with a rain location of Eastern Salisbury Fire Department.
The exhibit includes a 7,200-volt electrical distribution grid that features live electrical wires, utility poles and transformers.
Using ladders, gloves, shovels and other tools in a controlled environment, trained PPL staff, wearing protective equipment, will recreate sparks, flames, smoke and crackling that occurs when those items come on contact with live electrical lines.
They will also show what occurs when a tree branch and balloons come in contact with wires.
This exhibit is used to educate customers, students, first responders and the general public about the dangers associated with electricity and contact with electrical lines and components.
If you are interested in attending, visit the Eastern Salisbury Fire Department Facebook page and respond about going to their event so they can try to plan for the number attending.
