Whitehall-Coplay Middle School’s annual food drive is coming!

From March 9 through March 16, students will begin their successful, friendly homeroom food drive competition. Each homeroom will take a daily count of items brought in. Items collected need to be nonperishable and nonexpired. The winning homerooms will receive a surprise reward.

All of the food collected will stay in the Whitehall-Coplay School District by being donated to the food banks associated with Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.

There will be no classes March 13. Teachers will have a professional development day.

A basket bingo is planned for 1-3 p.m. March 14 in the cafeteria of Whitehall High School. Doors open noon.

Proceeds benefit Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley.

Physical and dental exam notices were recently sent home with students whose parents have not submitted a physical or dental form from their private provider. The School Health Law of Pennsylvania requires all children entering kindergarten or first grade to have a dental and physical exam completed and the form submitted to school.

WCSD also requires these exams for all transfer students.

WCSD is continuing registration for kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year. Your child must be 5 years old before Sept. 1.

Parents/guardians must complete the online registration by visiting whitehallcoplay.org.

Select a date and time to meet with Michelle Khouri, district registrar, to present all the required documentation. The list of required documents is available to view on the website.

Parents/guardians will be given an appointment to bring their child to meet with the guidance counselor, principal, school nurse, ESOL teacher and reading specialist for a brief assessment held April 20-22 at Gockley Elementary School.

March 27 is the deadline to register kindergarten students online.
