Boston University

Brandy N. Moser and Korina V. Zambrano, both of Northampton, were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Boston University.

Each school and college at Boston University has their own criterion for the dean’s list, but students generally must attain a 3.5 grade-point average or be in the top 30 percent of their class while maintaining a full course load as a full-time student.

Founded in 1839, Boston University is an internationally recognized institution of higher education and research. Consisting of 16 schools and colleges, BU offers students more than 250 programs of study in science and engineering, social science and humanities, health science, the arts and other professional disciplines, along with a number of multidisciplinary centers and institutes integral to the university’s research and teaching mission. RIT

The following local residents made the dean’s list at Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2019 fall semester:

Bath: Austin Frey, mechanical engineering technology

Coplay: Jacob Anchorstar, mechanical engineering; Ariana Hawk, photographic and imaging arts; Noah Smith, game design and development

Danielsville: Jacob Auger, software engineering

Northampton: Andrew Cochrane, motion picture science

Walnutport: Nicholas Uebele, packaging science

Whitehall: Audrey Fedor, chemical engineering; Emily Lazarus, biomedical engineering

Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for dean’s list if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.4; they do not have any grades of incomplete, D or F; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

Kutztown University

Shannon Shafnisky, of Whitehall, and Collin Stettler, of Walnutport, were recently initiated into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Shafnisky is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

University at Albany

Rachel Schannauer, of Whitehall, was named to the dean’s list of distinguished students for the fall 2019 semester at the University at Albany.

In order to qualify for this distinction, students at the University at Albany must earn a GPA of 3.25 or higher during their first semester of study. In subsequent semesters of study, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
