Fire companies provide updates

Lynnport Fire Company representative Tim VanBlargen reported to Lynn Township supervisors several of its members attending firefighting classes. He also noted at the board’s Feb. 13 meeting that firefighters responded to 69 calls in 2019 and six so far this year.

In June, remodeling of the bathrooms will begin and work will commence on the roof at the fire station.

The 2000 Club is underway with the final night on March 29.

New Tripoli firefighters responded to 174 calls in 2019 and six so far in 2020. Several members also took various firefighting courses.

The date for the annual guns and cash bash is Oct. 10 and the fire company will have its Easter filling sale on April 11.

In other matters, the Paul Kuhn subdivision was before the board for final plan approval. A 1.52-acre lot, which would contain the existing house, would be created with a residue parcel of 4.5 acres. The plan was given conditional final approval.

Roadmaster Bruce Raber gave a summary of the projects that the road crew were involved.

Raber’s list included, among other things, stoning the dirt roads, boom mowing, filling pot holes, cold patching, repairing and replacing signs. Some of the signs were vandalized and needed restoration.

Chris Noll covered the Ontelaunee Park section of the agenda.

He noted the estimate for the new bridge would be around $160,000.

When bids were opened, the low bidder was Professional Construction Contractors with a bid of $159,256.

The Large Flowerheads will perform Sept. 27 at the park.

The pole and light project at the dog park has been completed.

Each of the board members had a comment to make.

Supervisor Brian Dietrich noted there is a vacancy on the Ag Security Board.

Fritz Najarian was appointed to fill the slot vacated by Harry Gruber.

Supervisor Steve Feinour announced the Act 537 sewage facilities plan must be updated this year and Supervisor Justin Smith reported an emergency management coordinator is needed.

Eric Andreas of Nestle Waters North America presented the board with a check for $15,000. toward the continued operation of Ontelaunee Park.
