NORTHWESTERN: ‘All Shook Up’

“All Shook Up” roars onto the stage at 7 p.m. Feb. 27, 28, 29 and 2 p.m. March 1, auditorium, Northwestern Lehigh High School, 6493 Route 309, New Tripoli, Lynn Township.

“It’s a fun story based on ‘Twelfth Night’ set to Elvis [Presley] music. Taking the 1950s’ Elvis movie themes about the bad boy with the heart of gold changing the town with his music. A rollicking toe-tapping, hand-clapping, finger-snapping time,” says Director Bill Mutimer, Northampton Community College Theater Department Chair and Artistic Producing Director for Northampton Community College Summer Theatre.

Assisting for the show is music director Nick Conti.

Chad, a 1950s-era hip-swiveling, guitar-playing, newly-released prison inmate, shakes things up when he arrives on his motorcycle at a dreary town somewhere in the Midwest.

Music and lyrics are from the Elvis Presley songbook and the show’s book is by Joe DiPietro.

Production numbers include “Jailhouse Rock,” “Fools Fall In Love,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” “All Shook Up” and “Burning Love.”

The musical premiered on Broadway in 2005.
