State trooper visits Lowhill

Cpl. Nick Goldsmith of State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, visited the Feb. 6 Lowhill supervisors’ meeting to ask if there were any issues or questions for him.

Goldsmith reported the barracks has a new lieutenant, Greg Emery.

According to Secretary Jill Seymour, Engineer Ryan Christman provided the board with his report.

Christman said the Bear Bridge inspection reports were received from the state. He will review them and report back at the next supervisors’ meeting.

Administrator Brian Carl gave his report to the board.

He stated the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission approved the comprehensive plan. Lowhill’s portion to sign for the plan is $5,251.47.

Roadmaster Joe Kalusky gave his report to the board .

Kalusky said there were five days of winter maintenance for the road crew in January.

They did some Tiger mowing, and routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.

Kalusky said they will be doing some tree trimming and any necessary winter maintenance this month.

There was a price change on the 2008 Peterbilt dump truck. Hunter Keystone Peterbilt waived $120 for document fees for the purchase of the truck.

Supervisor Richard Hughes made a motion to pay $60,000 for the dump truck. Supervisor Buddy Wessner seconded the motion.

The highest bid for Lowhill’s 1979 Mack was for $10,650. The second highest bid was $10,550.

The bidding was done through Municibid, an online government auction of government surplus.

Hughes made a motion to approve the sale to the highest bidder, conditional upon receiving the payment.

If not paid before Feb. 17, the dump truck would be sold to the second highest bidder. Supervisor Robb Werley seconded the motion.

The board reported there is still an open position on the township planning commission.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact the township building.

Seymour reported that the township was audited by the state for its liquid fuels money but there were no findings.
