‘Centenarians’ invade Northwestern Elementary

Hang on to your prune juice everyone, little “seasoned ladies and gentlemen” were on the march at Northwestern Elementary Feb. 7 to mark the 100th day of school in a unique way.

Northwestern kindergartners marked their halfway point with a nod to the numeral 100 and what it means in their lives.

Rather than just counting to 100, or bringing in 100 straws, the class was challenged to dress up as though they were 100 years old and then parade around the school.

Most students were delighted to know that the school year was more than half over.

“It’s kind of a tradition,” Partners In Education President Erica Seither said. “It’s been going on at the school for such a long time I don’t who started it.”

“Senior” Northwestern Elementary kindergarten buddies Colt and Gabe Kahora dressed for the part.
