The yearbook staff will host a cornhole tournament 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 22 at Salisbury High School. Family members, staff and students are all welcome to participate. There is a cost for a team for students and another cost for everyone else.
All senior quotes for the 2019-2020 yearbook must be submitted to the yearbook staff using the Google form by Feb. 14. Please check the guidelines to make sure the quote meets all of the requirements.
STARS is selling candy-grams to celebrate Valentine’s Day. All bags include candy or chocolate and a prize. Students can purchase the bags in Profesora Cherry’s room to send to a friend until Feb. 12. All grams will be delivered to the student’s chosen recipient Feb. 13 during block one.
Sewing for Charity, a new club at SHS, is selling scrunchies during all three lunches until Feb. 18 to spread awareness about unhealthy relationships and domestic violence. All the proceeds will be donated to Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley. Community members interested in viewing the Sewing for Charity’s projects can follow them on instagram at @shs_sewing.
Spring physicals are being held 5-6:15 p.m. Feb. 13 in the SHS old gym. All students interested in playing a spring sport must have a physical dated on or after June 1, 2019. Students should bring all required forms with them. There is a cost. Please sign up for the physical on the Google form sent in an email by Director of Athletics and Activities Monica Deeb.
Students who are not currently enrolled at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute but are interested in attending during the 2020-2021 school year, must fill out an application by March 13. All interested students should visit the SHS guidance office to receive an application.
Congratulations to all who participated in Mr. Hahn’s Super Bowl 2020 contest. The student winners were Zach Bender (23 correct), Lindsey Rapp (21 correct) and Drew Hines (21 correct). The staff winners were Ms. Morningstar (21 correct), Mrs. Xander (20 correct) and Mrs. Shuey (20 correct).
The science department is selling Earth Day T-shirts to celebrate Earth Day’s 50th anniversary. Those who are interested in purchasing a shirt must return the order form with the payment to Mrs. Basile by Feb. 13.
The school food service, SFE, has a new mobile ordering system that will allow high school students and staff to order their lunch ahead of time so they can skip the line. In order to use this option, students must download the Nutrislice App, create a profile and order their lunch prior to 8:30 a.m. of the same day.
Finally, because there have been no snow days since the start of the school year, students will enjoy a day off Feb. 14 and 17 for Presidents Day.
