More town houses for Blue Barn Meadows

South Whitehall commissioners recently authorized construction of 69 town house units for Stage 3 of the Blue Barn Meadows subdivision of Posocco Equities.

The plan includes a 17-space parking lot and 1,280 feet of new roadway on 8.9 acres.

The overall Blue Barn Meadows project includes 207 townhouses on a 42-acre parcel. A small portion of the site is in Upper Macungie.

Stages One and Two of the development are already approved and under construction.

History of this property at 1491 Blue Barn Road dates back to the year 2000 when commissioners rezoned the land from Rural Residential to a mix of R-5 and R-10 designations.

Commissioners also approved development of a property at 1960 Harold Avenue which will allow construction of five town houses.

The plan proposes removal of an existing pool, gazebo, pavilion, wall and pavement on the 21,600-square foot property.

Although an existing house and garage will remain standing, the rest of the property will be for the town houses.

The project site is along the south side of Harold Avenue across from its intersection with Stanley Street.

Reconstruction of Harold Avenue along the property frontage and rebuilding of curb and sidewalk are included in the proposal submitted by Posocco Equities.

Commissioners also approved construction of a four-story, 91,520-square foot senior living building at Parkland Manor, 4636 Crackersport Road.

The building will contain 16 studio apartments, 61 one-bedroom units, and an 89-space parking lot.

The new construction continues the redevelopment of the former West End Racquetball Club as a retirement facility by Pennsylvania Venture Capital Inc.

In other business, commissioners approved replacement of the roof at Cetronia Fire Company headquarters, 3950 Broadway, at a total cost of $35,086.
