Honoring the fallen Chris Brown to design veterans memorial

Chris Brown, who designed the development of the park since it was purchased by Lynn Township in May 2000, is donating all of his time as the principal design consultant.

All of the fees in the proposal will cover the cost of his staff.

Brown, who served as a Marine, said his first client after opening his land architects business was Lynn Township to design the new layout for the park.

Brown said he has a personal connection with the memorial both as a veteran and with the park itself.

He took the committee’s original drawing for the design concept and offered four options to consider.

The committee decided on the artist rendering to develop and refine over the next few months.

All funding for the $300,000 budgeted design and construction costs, that will include an estimated 3,000 names of veterans from the four townships, will be solicited from private and corporate donors.

The committee has been meeting since September 2018 to build a veterans memorial that will honor all residents of the four townships in the Northwestern Lehigh School District; Heidelberg, Lowhill, Lynn and Weisenberg, who served from the Revolutionary War to the present, with provisions to add future names.

To date, the committee has the names of 1,425 veterans in their database for the memorial.

The deadline for submitting names to be included is July 4.

Names may be submitted, at no cost, at nwlehighvetsmemorial.org.
