Time for “Rent”: The 20th anniversary production of “Rent” has two performances, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Feb. 9, State Theatre for the Arts, Easton. “For the past 20 years, ‘Rent’ has touched the lives of audiences around the world from Broadway to regional productions to high school auditoriums,” says Producer Stephen Gabriel. “Rent,” a reimagining of Puccini’s “La Bohème,” premiered off-Broadway in 1996 and transferred to Broadway, winning the 1996 Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, one of only five musicals to win both awards. Just super: Sons Of Apollo, a super-group featuring members of Dream Theater, Mr. Big, Guns ‘N Roses, and Journey, performs, 8 p.m. Feb. 7, Penn’s Peak, Jim Thorpe. Opening the concert is Tony MacAlpine. Doors open at 7 p.m. Sons of Apollo is: Jeff Scott Soto, lead vocals, acoustic guitar; Ron Thal, guitar, backing vocals; Billy Sheehan, bass, backing vocals; Derek Sherinian, keyboards, backing vocals, and Mike Portnoy, drums, backing vocals, lead vocals. Portnoy and Sherinian were in Dream Theatre. Thal was in Guns N’ Roses. Sheehan is in The Winery Dogs. Soto was in Journey. The group’s albums are “Psychotic Symphony,” 2017; “Live with the Plovdiv Psychotic Symphony,” 2019, and “MMXX,” 2020.
