Whitehall Township police are investigating a shooting Jan. 29 outside of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, 1141 MacArthur Road.

According to police Lt. Gregory Bealer, officers responded to the scene 7:45 p.m. after a call that a person ran into the restaurant, told employees he or she was shot but not to call police and then left the area by vehicle.

Officers did find evidence of a shooting, Bealer said.

Just after 8 p.m., Allentown police reported a person walked into its headquarters and told officers he or she was the person who fired the weapon at Popeyes. That person is being detained, according to Bealer.

A potential victim has been identified; however, that person does not have any injuries, Bealer said.

The investigation is continuing. No further information was available at press time.
