Coplay Public Library: Get your new library card now for access to all materials

Now is the perfect time to get a library card. Getting a card is so easy, and it’s free.

For those 18 and over, simply bring in your photo identification and proof of address and fill out a registration card. For patrons 17 and under, you must bring a parent to the library with their photo ID and proof of address. Your parent will need to fill out the registration card for you.

Books, movies and e-books will be yours for the asking. You’ll be on your way to exploring new horizons.

You will have access to all the materials in our library, plus the other 10 libraries in the Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative (LCLC): Whitehall, Catasauqua, Dimmick, Emmaus, Lehighton, Lower Macungie, Palmerton, Parkland, Slatington and Southern Lehigh.

You can either go to one of these libraries, or you can request an item and it will be delivered to us. The delivery van operates Mondays through Saturdays.

No fines will be due that day.

Earn some cool cash this month at the library’s 50/50 raffle.

The drawing will be held noon Feb. 29. You don’t have to be present to win.

We’re starting a book club for adults! Bring friends and family to the first meeting, which will be held 6-6:30 p.m. Feb. 26.

While many book clubs ask their members to read a specific book, we understand people like to make their own choices on reading material. Our members only need to read a book in a certain category.

For February, we will be talking about mysteries. Before the meeting, read a mystery by any author. You can even choose a nonfiction book with mysterious elements.

If you’re hesitant to come, be assured there will be no pressure. You can come and just listen.

APPRISE counselors from the State Health Insurance Assistance Program will be at the library 1 p.m. March 11 to do a presentation with current information on the program. They will also talk about Medicaid, Medigap, Medicare Advantage, long-term care insurance and prescription drug benefits.

A question-and-answer period will follow.

Registration is requested.

Call the library at 610-262-7351.

Order pickup is 11 a.m. April 4.

***

The next book/bake sale will be 11 a.m.-4 p.m. April 3 and 4.

We are accepting donations. We no longer accept VHS tapes, encyclopedias, textbooks or Reader’s Digest condensed books.

We have plenty of winter days and uncertain weather conditions to come. While we make every effort to remain open, there will be times when it will be necessary to close the library for the safety of our patrons and staff.

Follow us on the WFMZ Stormcenter and our Facebook page for any closings.

No fines are charged for any days we are closed or close early.
