WESTERN SALISBURY COLUMN

Salisbury Township School District, in collaboration with Fielding International, will host a community visioning session 6 p.m. Jan. 30 in the Salisbury High School library, 500 E. Montgomery St., Allentown. Fielding International is an award-winning, global leader in education planning and architectural design firm with the mission of transforming education by design. Having designed schools in 50 countries, their philosophy is to design schools based on learning and the local ethos.

The FI team will be building off Salisbury Township School District’s powerful learner-centered vision, to help re-envision Salisbury’s physical learning environments in a way that aligns with the district’s empowering educational paradigm. This community visioning event will be an opportunity to share thoughts about the future of Salisbury’s schools. Each attendee will have an opportunity to participate directly in this session and share thoughts, ideas and visions for the future of Salisbury. Spring athletic physicals will be held 5-6:15 p.m. Feb. 13. Please log on to the Salisbury Township School District website and make an appointment on the Sign-up Genius link. Walk-ins will be accepted if there is time. Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment and enter at the old high school gym.

Harry S Truman Elementary School and Western Salisbury Elementary School will have a 1 p.m. early dismissal Jan. 31. The high school and middle school are dismissing at regular time.

Guess what time it is? Girl Scout cookie time! What is your favorite flavor? Thin mints are a must for me. Find a local Girl Scout and get your cookie fix.

There is an operations committee meeting 7 p.m. Feb. 7 in the administration building.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and the South Mall wants to help you make it memorable. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 8 there will be crafters and vendors selling their wares throughout the mall to help you purchase the perfect gift for your sweetheart. There will also be raffles, giveaways and a couples painting class.

The Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church would like to invite you to its community breakfast, 8 to 11 a.m. Feb. 8. A few seasonal items are offered in addition to the regular menu. The regular menu consists of eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, English muffins, toast, hash browns, coffee and juice. A donation is suggested.
