Club honors NAHS students
Four Northampton Area High School seniors - Emily Wegrzyn, Abbi Czarnecki, Cole Clapp and Collin Christein - were recognized as Students of the Month by Northampton Exchange Club during its Service to Youth program, held Jan. 8 at Northampton Banquet and Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave.
The honorees were awarded the Lamp of Knowledge, a certificate and a pen for their outstanding academic achievements and in- and out-of-school activities.
Program Chairman Dr. Rodger Berg said the students rose to the challenges they faced over their young lives and achieved and excelled. The honorees each addressed the club on challenges they had and how they dealt with them.
The seniors, cited as role models to others, were credited with perseverance, diligence and hard work for the success the have attained. Their families were thanked for their support.
Wegrzyn, Girl of the Month for November 2019, is part of National Honor Society, Biology Club, French Club, Innovative Leadership Club, Angels in Disguise and Keystone Advisory Committee and is a library aide and volunteer.
Clapp, Boy of the Month for November 2019, is part of National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Debate Club, Innovative Leadership Club, track and field and soccer.
Czarnecki, Girl of the Month for December 2019, is part of National Honor Society, Distributive Education Clubs of America, Student Council, Volunteer Club, German Club, P.E.A.C.E. Club, girls track and youth soccer.
Christein, Boy of the Month for December 2019, is part of National Honor Society, DECA (officer), Kids for Christ, Physical Education Club and baseball.
