A side of hits: The Hit Men, classic rock’s super-group of sidemen, returns, 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25, to the State Theatre Center for the Arts, Easton. The group’s musicians have backed Paul McCartney, Elton John, Frankie Valli, Foreigner, The Who and Toto in concert and recorded for some 85 albums, many of which went gold and platinum. The Hit Men are keyboardist and group founder Lee Shapiro, lead guitarist-vocalist Jimmy Ryan, bassist-vocalist Jeff Ganz, keyboardist, percussionist and vocalist Russ Velazquez and drummer and vocalist Steve Murphy. It’s them: Umphrey’s McGee performs in concert, 7 p.m. Jan. 23, Penn’s Peak Jim Thorpe. Doors open at 6 p.m. Opening is The New Deal. Umphrey’s McGee is an American jam band formed by students at the University of Notre Dame in 1997. The band’s music includes rock, metal, funk, jazz, blues, reggae, electronic, bluegrass and folk. The band has released 12 albums, including “It’s Not Us” and “It’s You,” both in 2018, and 15 live albums.
