The Allentown Central Catholic High School girls basketball played against Pocono Mountain West High School Jan. 10.

The Vikettes won 33-30 and marked their 1,000th win with Coach Mike Kopp.

Coach Kopp has had a distinguished career of service and accomplishment as an ACCHS teacher, athletic director from 2002-2015 and basketball coach. Among his many accomplishments is being named the National High School Coaches Association National Girls Basketball Coach of The Year in 2014 and holding the state record for most victories. Congratulations, Coach Kopp!

Congratulations to ACCHS junior wrestler David Kreidler, a 126-pounder, who is working toward a third consecutive 30-win season, a second Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association medal and a future in the sport.

On Jan. 11 ACCHS held the 2020 Rockne Hall Wall of Fame Ceremony. Congratulations to 2020 inductees: Marie Myers, athletic trainer; Andrew Heimbach, Class of 2006; Becky Guman, Class of 2009; Erin Leaser, Class of 2008 and the 1989 varsity boys cross country team.

The Science Olympiad Team represented ACCHS very well Jan. 11 at the Conestoga High School competition. Congratulations to Alan Garger, Elizabeth Ulicny and Gwen Minogue for placing fourth in the protein modeling event.

The March For Life will be held Jan. 24. Students and faculty will travel by motor coach to Washington, D.C. and join many others to peacefully protest the practice and legality of abortion.

The ACCHS Class of 2020 is sponsoring the Viking Glory Dodgeball Tournament benefiting Team Krause. The tournament will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 1 at Elite Sports Academy, 4651 Colebrook Ave., Emmaus.
