Need a lunch idea that’s easy to pack and benefits a great group of kids? Salisbury Middle School is hosting a hoagie fundraiser. The hoagies are from Thomson’s Meat Market in Walnutport. Hoagie sale proceeds will fund spring activities. Hoagie orders and money (check made out to Salisbury Middle School or cash) need to be turned in by Jan. 23. Delivery date for the hoagies will be Jan. 28. If you would like to order hoagies, please see any SMS student.

Salisbury boys basketball will host an Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser 8-10 a.m. Jan. 25 at the Trexlertown Applebee’s, 7150 Hamilton Blvd., Trexlertown. Tickets will be available at the door or you can purchase from any Salisbury JH/JV/varsity boys basketball player. There will also be a large selection of gift basket raffles. Harry S Truman Elementary School and Western Salisbury Elementary School will dismiss 1 p.m. Jan. 31. If dismissal procedures change for your student as a result, please notify your respective school of the change.

The Salisbury Twirlers will host an indoor competition Feb. 1 at Salisbury High School. The show will include dance, percussion, color guard and twirling teams from local schools and organizations. There is an admission charge; however, if you provide a Salisbury student or staff ID admission is free. The show begins noon, with Salisbury Middle School performing 4:36 p.m. and Salisbury High School performing 7:55 p.m. Hope to see you there!

On Feb. 4, Salisbury High School will host a scheduling night for incoming ninth graders, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Look for more information to be sent home regarding this event.

There will be a school board meeting 7:30 p.m. Jan. 22 in the administration building.

Salisbury cheerleading will hold open gym for students in grades 5-12. This is your chance to learn some cheers, band dances and try some stunting. Open gyms will be held weekly, 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays in the SHS new gym starting Feb. 13 until the end of March. Tryouts for fall cheerleading will then be in April. Please wear cheer shoes or flat soled shoes, gym shorts and T-shirts. Hair must be pulled back and please remember water. SHS and SMS spring athletic physicals will be given at SHS Feb. 13. More information to follow, but save the date if you need a physical completed. There is a charge.
