Nicholas D. Ritter, of Troop 131, Wescosville, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor ceremony held recently at the Lower Macungie Library.
For his Eagle Project, Nicholas worked with Lisa Underwood, youth services director at Lower Macungie Library, to coordinate the creation of a series of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) kits at the library. Each kit contains a STEM activity and book on topics such as coding, insects and tactiles. Twenty STEM kits are now available for circulation for children ages 3-12.
In Boy Scouts, Nicholas earned a total of 31 merit badges and held the positions of librarian and patrol leader within the Troop. He successfully completed a 12-day high adventure trip at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, N.M.
Outside of Scouting, Nicholas was a member of the Emmaus High School marching and symphonic bands for four years, as well as a member of National Honor Society, S.A.D.D. and the drama department.
The son of David and Tammi Ritter, of Macungie, Nicholas currently attends college at Penn State – Berks Campus, where he is majoring in parks, recreation and tourism management.
