Staff moving to Roma
During the first phase of the campus master plan renovation and construction project, South Whitehall staff will relocate to the fourth floor of the Roma building at the southeast quadrant of Cedar Crest Boulevard and Walbert Avenue.
Township Manager Renee Bickel provided some information on the move during commissioners Jan. 6 meeting.
“We’ll start the transition the last week of January,” Bickel said.
She noted residents will be able to pay bills and do normal township business at the Roma site, which has elevators for public use.
Director of Finance Steve Carr reported he “negotiated down” to bring the Roma cost under the $200,000 he had originally anticipated.
“We’ll pay $13,000 a month plus certain utilities,” Carr said. “We signed a 15-month lease but are hoping to be out by the end of a year.”
Bickel stated the last public meeting in the South Whitehall administration building was expected to be on Jan. 15.
At that time, a schedule of 2020 meeting dates and locations will be available.
Throughout the year, South Whitehall meetings will take place in Parkland School District buildings.
South Whitehall staff are working with Parkland officials to prepare the list of public meeting sites for the board of commissioners, zoning hearing board, planning commission, and other commissions and advisory committees.
In other matters, the board approved resolutions reappointing individuals and their firms providing professional services to the township.
These include Solicitor Joe Zator; Alternate Solicitor James Broughal; and Eckert Seamans of Philadelphia, solicitor for the Civil Service Commission, pension committee and labor counsel.
Maria Mullane was reappointed solicitor previously by and for the zoning hearing board.
The Pidcock Company continues its long tenure as township engineer, with Anthony Tallarida the new company representative at commissioners’ meetings.
The board also granted unanimous approval to the reappointment of Bickel as township manager.
