SALISBURY TOWNSHIP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Debra Brinton was elected president of the Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners at its reorganization meeting Jan. 6.

Rodney Conn was elected vice president of the township commissioners’ board.

James Seagreaves was elected president pro tempore of the township board. He would chair township commissioners’ meetings in the absence of Brinton and Conn.

Brinton has been acting township board president following the 2019 resignation of board of commissioners President Robert Martucci Jr., who retired and moved from the township.

The three township commissioners were elected to their board titles in separate unanimous 5-0 votes by commissioners at the reorganization meeting in the township muncipal building.

Salisbury commissioners hold their first regular 2020 meeting, 7 p.m. Jan. 9, in the municipal building, 2900 S. Pike Ave.

Sworn into office by Salisbury Township Solicitor Atty. John W. Ashley at the reorganization meeting were Brinton, representing Ward 3; Joanne Ackerman, representing Ward 5 and Heather Lipkin, representing Ward 1.

Brinton and Ackerman were re-elected in the Nov. 5, 2019, general election. Lipkin, who is new to the board, was elected in the general election after being appointed to fill the remainder of Martucci’s unexpired 2019 term.

At the reorganization meeting, appointments were made for township officials and for vacancies on township boards.

In separate 5-0 votes by resolution, commissioners approved the following appointments:

Township Secretary - Salisbury Township Manager Cathy Bonaskiewich

Assistant Township Secretary - Salisbury Township Assistant Manager Sandy Nicolo

Township Treasurer - Salisbury Township Tax Collector Linda Minger

Assistant Township Treasurer - Salisbury Township Manager Cathy Bonaskiewich

Township Solicitor - Atty. Johh W. Ashley, Davison & McCarthy

Township Engineer - David J. Tettemer, Keystone Consulting Engineers, Inc.

Alternate Township Engineer - Hanover Engineering Associates, Inc.

Township Sewage Enforcement Officer and Alternates - Scott Bieber, Lehigh Soils and Wetlands, Inc., as SEO, and Charyn Ayoub, Lehigh Soils and Wetlands, Inc., and Gregory Gray, Christopher Taylor and Jacob Schray, Hanover Engineering Associates, Inc., as alternates

Township Building Code Official - CodeMaster Inspection Services, Inc.

Township Labor Counsel - Atty. David G. Knerr

Township Fire Marshal - Salisbury Township Police Department Sgt. Donald Sabo Jr.

In separate 5-0 votes by motion, commissioners approved the following appointments from commissioners by ward, where applicable:

Planning Commission (four-year term) - Ward 2, Charles Beck; Ward 3, Mark Kijak

Zoning Hearing Board (five-year term) - Ward 2, vacant until appointment made, to serve through Jan. 1, 2022, following resignation of Ed Hare; Ward 3, Todd Laudenslager

Civil Service Commission (six-year term) - Kenneth Wied, alternate, succeeds member Archie Hartzell, who resigned. Alternate to be appointed.

Vacancy Board (one-year term) - Dan Moyer

Environmental Advisory Council (three-year term) - Ward 2, John Barbaz; Ward 3, Jane Benning

Building Code Board of Appeals (five-year term) - Ward 5, Tom Grello
