The biology and algebra portion of the Keystone exams will be administered Jan. 9-14 at Catasauqua High School, with final exams set for Jan. 16 and 17.

On both final exam days, CHS students will be dismissed 11 a.m.

Keystone exams are state-mandated end-of-course assessments designed to demonstrate proficiency in the core subjects.

At the high school level, they are one component of Pennsylvania’s system of high school graduation requirements. Keystone exams are used for three purposes: student, school and teacher accountability.

The results of these exams are gathered and published annually.

Additionally, Keystone exams are used toward the School Performance Profile (SPP) score, the ESSA report card, are incorporated into the evaluation of each teacher and principal and are used for local and national ratings.

School will be closed Jan. 20 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Additionally, the Catasauqua Area School District will be closed Jan. 21 for an Act 80 teacher in-service day.

Schools will reopen Jan. 22 at their regularly scheduled time.
