Happy New Year! Have you made New Year’s resolutions? Does anyone do that anymore?

The Upper Milford Historical Society will hold Discovery Night, 7 p.m. Jan. 30 in the Upper Milford Township building. This is their traditional evening of historical “show and tell,” where member share family treasures, unusual gadgets, nostalgic photos and memories.

The society meets 7 p.m. the last Thursday of every month except November and December. The meetings are always interesting and membership is very reasonable, so consider becoming a member. Check out their website, www.uppermilford.org. The society also has a new president, John Mondin, who replaces Neil Moser. Moser served for six years, which is the maximum allowed by the society’s bylaws.

The Ladies Auxiliary of Citizens Fire Company of Vera Cruz will meet 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Vera Cruz Fire Department Social Hall. For more information on fundraisers or how to join the auxiliary, email ladiesaux@vcfd28.com.

The Western District Fire Company on Route 100 will serve breakfast 7:30 a.m. to noon Jan. 5. The February breakfast will be Feb. 2, Groundhog Day, so that will be the perfect stop after you’ve gone out to see if the groundhog saw his shadow. The Upper Milford Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary meets 7 p.m. Jan. 6. New members are always welcome.

Vera Cruz senior citizens meet 1 p.m. Jan. 2 and 16 at the Vera Cruz Fire Company. All are welcome.

We don’t have complete meeting schedules for either township for the new year, so be sure to check with the township office about meetings you plan to attend.

Lower Milford Township supervisors usually meet the first and third Thursday of the month, beginning 6:30 p.m. This month, the only meeting scheduled so far is a workshop 6:30 p.m. Jan. 2.

Other Lower Milford meetings for which we have information are as follows; recreation and open space committee, 7 p.m. Jan. 8; planning commission 6:30 p.m. Feb. 3.

The Upper Milford Township office is open Jan. 2 and 3.

Upper Milford supervisors will meet Jan. 2 and 16. There is usually a workshop meeting 7 p.m. followed by the regular meeting 7:30 p.m., but check with the township to see if the workshop is scheduled.

The recreation commission meets 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20. The open space committee meets 7:30 p.m. Jan. 8, only if required to conduct business and the emergency service committee meets 7 p.m. Jan. 15, also only if required to conduct business. Check with the township office.
