LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q. Who are the members of your family: parents, siblings and pets?

A. My parents are Jason and Melissa Goldstein. I have a brother, Jacob, who is going to Franklin and Marshall College. I also have two dogs, Lizzy and Buster.

Q. What do you most enjoy about being a senior at Emmaus High School?

A. I like the challenge. I have always been in the honors course, but taking multiple AP classes and going to college next year is forcing me to push myself beyond my limits and become a better student.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. I have always loved math and science, and had a passion for creating things, so engineering is my favorite subject because it combines all three.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I am in National Honor Society and was named National Merit Scholar for my PSAT score. I have also received awards for excellence in German and engineering.

Q. What are your favorite extracurricular activities?

A. I am a Boy Scout in Troop 71. I have been involved in Scouting since the third grade. I love being with my friends while we help our community. I am currently a Life Scout and am very close to becoming an Eagle Scout. I have also been involved in the German Club, American Computer Science League and PA Math League, and this year I have gotten involved in Math Madness and the TSA Engineering Competition.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I will be heading to college and studying engineering. I plan on going to either Drexel or Lehigh University and using their co-op programs to get experience in the field, as well as working in other countries.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge was my Eagle Scout project. I planned and led the creation of picnic tables at Macungie Memorial Park. The biggest challenge was creating an efficient system of building, making sure everyone had a job and was working hard.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I want to be remembered as a hardworking student who was always willing to help others.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. The person I admire the most would be my grandfather. Not only has he helped me so much during my life, like when I was working on my Eagle project, but he also instilled my passion for engineering. I want to be someone like him: someone who is always willing to help and brings a smile to everyone around him.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Always look toward the future. You don’t have to get caught up in what goes on every day. As long as you have a plan and are working hard toward your goals, you will do great.
