Volunteer firefighters from Woodlawn, Greenawalds, Tri-Clover, Cetronia, Western Salisbury and Egypt, Whitehall Township, along with Cetronia Ambulance Corps, were dispatched Dec. 19, 2019, to a reported structure fire at the Roma Office Building, 1605 N. Cedar Crest Blvd., South Whitehall.
An employee called the 911 center to report smoke coming from a mechanical room.
The 911 center dispatcher told the employee to pull the fire alarm and evacuate the building.
When firefighters arrived, they saw light smoke in the area of the mechanical room.
Upon investigation, an elevator motor was found to have burned.
There was no need for firefighters to extinguish any residual fire.
All fire and emergency medical service units were released except Woodlawn firefighters, who used electric fans to evacuate the residual smoke from the building.
