Michaelina Mezzina organized a hometown Christmas party Dec. 20 for the residents of Hampton House, 1802 Lincoln Ave., Northampton.
“We have a hundred residents here [who] are elderly and look forward celebrating Christmas,” she said.
And celebrate they did. Mezzina, the building’s property manager, brought in a band and had Santa Claus passing out gifts.
The special meal was great, but the highlight of the day was a visit from Siegfried Elementary School’s fifth-grade chorus. Principal Renee Sallit brought the kids from the school and into the dining room. Choral director Mike Fister directed the enthusiastic singers.
The group led off with some rock-n-roll Christmas-themed tunes that got the party started. The singers also had a singalong with the residents.
The whole event gave the residents a bit of Christmas spirit.
