It was a ‘chili’ night at the New Tripoli Hotel

Jacqueline Russ-Harford, owner of the New Tripoli Hotel, recently welcomed chili lovers for the hotel’s annual Chili Cookoff.

Proceeds from the Nov. 16, 2019, fundraiser, went to Starting Over Animal Rescue, Schnecksville, and Forgotten Felines and Fidos, Heidelberg Township.

Both nonprofits care for unwanted animals.

The event also raised money from a Chinese auction, where donated baskets were bid on by attendees.

Coming in third place was Peter Gorman, chef at the New Tripoli Hotel.

He won a $25 New Tripoli Hotel gift card.

A local and customer of the hotel, A.J. Farrell came in second place.

He won a $50 New Tripoli Hotel gift card.

Coming in first place was Abbey Bell, who heard about the event and lives an hour and 40 minutes away. She won a $100 cash prize.

“We are planning on holding our first ChowderFest in March or April for both of these organizations as well,” Russ-Harford said. “Stay tuned.”
