Cleaning fluid causes emergency response at local medical building

Cetronia Ambulance Corps, Cetronia and Greenawalds fire departments were dispatched 1:36 p.m. Nov. 15 for a report of inhalation victims at the St. Luke’s West End Medical Center, South Whitehall Township.

Multiple advanced life support and basic life support units responded from Cetronia Ambulance Corps as well as an engine from both Cetronia and Greenawalds fire departments.

Lehigh County Special Operations John Kalynych responded and was prepared to dispatch the HazMat team, if needed.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that an unidentified cleaning fluid had spilled earlier in the day.

However, once the fumes from the agent started to spread through the building, several employees reported some breathing discomfort.
