SALISBURY TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT

The Salisbury Township School Board met Dec. 4 at the district administration building for its regular meeting.

The board approved a Cedar Crest College nursing agreement regarding the use of district facilities for learning experiences for its students in the nursing program.

The board also approved the placement of Lynn Welliver, a student nurse from Cedar Crest College, at Harry S Truman Elementary School, Western Salisbury Elementary School, Salisbury Middle School and Salisbury High School to complete her school nurse certification practicum hours Jan. 13 through April 27, 2020, tentatively.

A Graduate Education Program Agreement was approved between Moravian College and Salisbury Township School District regarding additional education for teachers.

Christian Leighton was approved as a student teacher from Muhlenberg College. Leighton will work with Angela Xander, SHS math teacher March 16 through May 6, 2020.

Several personnel items were approved, including employing Bevin Beckage, of Allentown, as a four hours a day, part- time, one-to-one instructional assistant at HST effective Dec. 3.

Peter Stoelzl, of Stroudsburg, was approved as a volunteer wrestling coach, pending completion of requirements.

Richard Sikora, of Bethlehem, was approved as volunteer swimming coach for the 2019-2020 school term, pending completion of requirements.

The basketball team will bring aboard several new volunteer coaches. Christopher Miller, of Allentown, will serve as a volunteer assistant varsity boys coach and Jason Laky, of Northampton, will come aboard as a volunteer assistant junior high boys coach. In addition, Brendan Reichenbach, of Allentown, was approved to proceed as a volunteer assistant boys coach for the 2019-2020 school year pending completion of requirements.

For the girls basketball team, Ryan Misiura, of Allentown, was approved as a volunteer assistant coach, pending completion of requirements.

Alex Cudd, of Allentown, will come aboard as a volunteer assistant rifle coach for the duration of the 2019-2020 season.

Board President George Gatanis announced there was an executive session before and after the meeting to discuss litigation issues.

The next board meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Jan. 22, 2020.
