Happy 14th birthday, Ben!

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of Matt’s mom. She was a remarkable woman. She grew up in England during World War II. She received her nursing degree and was a private duty nurse for George Orwell and Tyrone Power, among others. She went on to become a midwife and practiced nursing and midwifery in the United Kingdom, Los Angeles, Malaya, Singapore and the Fort Peck Sioux Reservation (where Matt was born) in Montana. She was a generous, witty woman and a wonderful storyteller for anyone who had time for a cup of tea. Her final wish was that in lieu of flowers, you take a friend to lunch. She will be greatly missed.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The next township column will be published Jan. 15, 2020; copy deadline is Jan. 9, 2020.
