HORNET HAPPENINGS

Ninth and 10th grade students who attend Emmaus High School and are interested in a biology-related school trip to the Galápagos Islands in summer 2022 should see Mr. Bisignani, Mrs. Kramer, Mr. Landrum or Mrs. Hess. A few of the places on the itinerary include the Darwin Research Station, a tortoise ranch, a flamingo habitat, lava tunnels and a cloud forest. There will also be snorkeling where attendees will see exotic fish, sea turtles and sea lions.

Students are also heading to Paris, southern France and Monaco to experience the food, art, scenery, weather, beaches and more during Thanksgiving 2020. If interested, contact Mrs. Fraser or any French teacher for more information.

Students interested in participating in the International Fair in February 2020 should get more information in Room 239.

Moravian College will hold an Instant Decision Day at EHS for any interested seniors. The event has been scheduled 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 18. Seniors can meet with an admissions representative from the college to find out if they are accepted. Any seniors interested in attending the event should go to the counseling office for more information.

Also, on Dec. 18, freshman through junior students will participate in a course recommendation day with their teachers where they will get feedback and guidance in selecting classes for the 2020-2021 school year. Students and parents are encouraged to discuss the feedback and suggested courses for next year over winter break. Also, students and parents should complete the back inside cover of the Program of Studies in preparation for course registration day scheduled for the end of January 2020.

According to the school website, “A working group has been formed at EHS to examine our use of time and determine to what extent our current schedule meets the needs and priorities of our students and their families. We ask parents of students at all grade levels to consider providing input to the group by completing this brief survey. Even if you do not have students currently enrolled at EHS, we welcome your input. The survey will be open for responses until Dec. 20.” A link can be found on the website www.eastpennsd.org.

School will be closed Dec. 23 through Jan. 1, 2020, for winter break.
