ALBURTIS BOROUGH COUNCIL
Alburtis Borough Council discussed topics including borough maintenance, resolutions and holiday activities at its Dec. 11 meeting
Council began the meeting with discussion of Officer Broc Termini’s employment status. Chief of Police Robert Palmer wrote to council explaining that as of Nov. 19, Termini completed his probationary period as a full-time police officer. Palmer requested council declare his full-time status as permanent. Council carried a motion to approve this request and asked Termini to visit borough hall for a proper congratulations.
In other business, council carried several motions approving Resolutions 2019-7 through Resolution 2019-12. These resolutions applied to the zoning hearing board, planning commission, parks and recreation, Alburtis Borough Authority, Environmental Advisory Council and independent auditor.
Next, council evaluated the Stormwater Best Management Practices and Operations and Maintenance Agreement with Prologis Logistics Services Inc. Council carried a motion to accept a recorded agreement to ensure stormwater management is properly attended to.
Following that, Alburtis Borough Manager Sharon Trexler informed council of the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs training and boot camp for newly elected municipal officials in January, February and March 2020. Trexler said for $450, any borough staff or officials interested can attend an all-inclusive boot camp. For now, Trexler sought for council to approve a $450 payment for Trexler to attend, as the event is less expensive than completing individual webinars. Council carried the motion for Trexler’s request.
Council also discussed the holiday festival held Dec. 8.
Council member Sherryann Oels enjoyed seeing the community come together for the holiday festival.
“It was a really nice day,” Oels said. “A whole lot of Alburtis people [attended]; it was a very nice day.”
Vice-President Steven Hill said the Emmaus High School Chorale performed very well at the event.
Before concluding the meeting, Trexler announced the borough has moved the borough shredding day event to Jan. 4, 2020 due to weather concerns.
