SCOUTING FOR FOOD

On Nov. 9, Scouts from both Cub Scout Pack 5 and Boy Scout Troop 5 gathered for the annual Scouting for Food collection drive.

The previous Saturday, the Scouts had distributed flyers to residents near St. Timothy’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 140 S. Ott St., Allentown. These flyers asked community members to donate non-perishable items to support community food pantries.

Scouts returned to the same community Nov. 9 to collect any items residents left on their doorsteps in support of the Scouting for Food collection effort.

This year, the Scouts of Cub Pack and Troop 5 collected over 1,200 pounds of nonperishable items to donate to Everlasting Life Ministries, Allentown.

Although the Scouts greatly helped the food bank, Everlasting Life Ministries is always in need of more items to help support people within the Allentown area.

If interested in donating this holiday season, visit the website www.elmallentown.org to see what items are most needed. All goods can be dropped off daily between 8:30 a.m. and 1p.m.

Scouting for Food is an annual national food collection effort by Boy Scouts of America.
