Ralph F. Bonsell

Ralph F. Bonsell, 80, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Allentown, died suddenly on Nov. 10, 2019.

Born on Aug. 5, 1939, in Tyrone, Blair County, he was the son of the late Ralph F. and Anna Jean (Wagner) Bonsell.

After graduating from Tyrone Area High School in 1957, he faithfully and honorably served his country by joining the U.S. Air Force.

He and his wife, Joan (Knotek) Bonsell, recently celebrated 45 years of marriage.

Employed by the city of Allentown, he was first a mechanic in the city garage and then worked with the parks and maintenance departments, before retiring in 2002.

Before that, he worked for Peter’s Marine Service and also owned a Mobil full-service station in Bethlehem.

He enjoyed his retirement in Florida, where he no longer had to shovel snow and was able to enjoy many cruises and adventures with his wife.

He was a member of Ocala West United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons James (Barbara) Bonsell of Goleta, Calif.; and Richard (Kathy) Bonsell of Allentown; daughters Tara (John) Bonsell of Huffs Church; Ardra (Jeff) Klaehn of Spencer, Ohio; Michelle (Keith) Daniels of Mount Dora, Fla.; grandchildren Christina and Katherine Bonsell, Kelsey Alderoty, Nicholas, Megan and Giles Bonsell, and Courtney, Ashley and Joshua Daniels.

He was predeceased by his daughter Annette Hartman.

A memorial service was held in Ocala, Fla.
