Sheckler News: Students enjoy visit to Troxell-Steckel farmhouse

Sheckler Elementary School students in first and fourth grades took a field trip recently to the Troxell-Steckel farmhouse, where they were able to hear about and participate in some holiday traditions.

Students learned what an old-fashioned Christmas entailed.

I’ve been told Sheckler Elementary will have a special visitor all the way from the North Pole Dec. 19. Any ideas who this may be?

Santa Claus will be there to see all the students!

Also on this day, classrooms will be filled with holiday cheer as students will celebrate with festive parties in their rooms.

***

At 7 p.m. Dec. 19, fourth-grade students will take to the Sheckler stage as they present their Christmas program, along with a band concert, for families and friends to enjoy.

It’s a wonderful time to come together for the holidays.

Fourth-grade students at Sheckler created holiday wishes to decorate a tree for the Holiday Festival of Trees event, where the tree is displayed at Lehigh Valley International Airport.

Students wrote a holiday wish on the tags that filled their tree. Visitors of the tree are invited to take a wish along with them on their travels and, in turn, they may leave a wish if they would like.

This project is a great way to make students aware how their one small wish can make an impact while wishing some holiday cheer, whether it be shared near or far. It brings everyone together in the spirit of the season.

***

Looking ahead for the holiday season, there will be an early dismissal Dec. 20. Sheckler students will be dismissed noon.

Winter break will be from Dec. 23 through Jan. 3, 2020.

Students will return to classes Jan. 6, 2020.

Enjoy your time off!
