LEHIGH COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

“You guys are awesome!” Mike Drabenstott said when addressing the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners Nov. 26.

Drabenstott is the chairman of the board of the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor. He was thanking the Lehigh County Commissioners for their support.

In other business, the Chief Clerk for Registration and Elections Timothy Benyo told the commissioners additional privacy screens and booths are planned for future elections. Lack of privacy was one of the major complaints heard from voters after the last election.

The commissioners approved the updated Lehigh County Comprehensive Plan, “Future LV: The Regional Plan,” which had been presented at the last meeting by members of the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission.

Lehigh County Commissioner Marty Nothstein was absent from the meeting; he was also absent for the Nov. 13 meeting.

Also approved were sale of two properties owned by Lehigh County at 4014 S. Second St., for $17,500 and 4052 S. Second St., for $41,900, both in Emmaus.

In a first reading was a bill establishing the Lehigh County Property Assessed Clean Energy Program. The program shall apply to building owners within Lehigh County and be known as the “Lehigh County C-PACE Program” or Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy Program.” The program allows building owners to obtain low-cost, long-term financing for energy efficiency equipment, low-flow plumbing products and renewable energy projects.

Billing assessments will be added to the property tax bills of the property owner.
