Theresa Wertz, of Coplay, recently received a $500 scholarship from Coplay Scholarship Fund Committee.
Wertz is a certified nursing assistant pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Cedar Crest College, Allentown. She plans to be a registered nurse.
A prolific community volunteer, Wertz was a three-year firefighter with Coplay Fire Department. Currently, she is an active volunteer at MountainView Horse Rescue, New Tripoli, and at Manito Equestrian Center, Allentown.
Wertz plans to focus her nursing education on pediatric care and/or labor and delivery.
Bill Leiner Jr., CSFC chair, presented the award.
The CSFC was founded in 2001 and has awarded thousands of dollars to Coplay students pursuing postsecondary education.
