Sally Madden, librarian at Northampton Area High School, was honored by Northampton Exchange Club as the club’s Outstanding NAHS Faculty Member for October.
She was accorded a certificate and a pen by the Exchange Club. The ceremony was held Nov. 6 at Northampton Banquet & Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave.
Madden was recognized for her interactions with students and faculty. The nomination for the citation came from her peers.
“As librarian, I am very fortunate to meet the majority of the students at the high school. I always try to encourage the students to reach their full potential. It has been a real privilege to serve our school community,” Madden said.
Madden has been the school’s librarian for 35 years and has been teaching for 37 years.
One of her nominators said Madden works very hard to manage the many students who visit the library each day, promotes literacy, engagement and accountability and is always willing to help a fellow educator, no matter the subject.
Another nominator said Madden goes above and beyond to help everyone and is always kind, compassionate, motherly and wonderful.
