Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, the Coplay Scholarship Fund Committee completed a small act to fulfill Gandhi’s quote. We awarded a $500 scholarship to a hardworking Coplay youngster.

The recipient is a nursing student at Cedar Crest College, Allentown. She was a three-year volunteer at Coplay Fire Department as a firefighter.

The recipient currently volunteers at a horse rescue and also at an equestrian organization in Allentown. She is employed as a certified nurse assistant at a local health care facility. Her career goal is pediatric and/or labor and delivery nursing.

The CSFC raises dollars to assist Coplay kids pursuing university, college, technical school and police academy goals. Simply put, we work to help kids achieve academic success.

I thank the CSFC board for remaining on the board. I think we are doing our small part as our motto states - “The Coplay Scholarship Fund, helping to provide for Coplay’s and the nation’s future.”
