LV Zoo lights “Winter Lights”: The sixth annual “Christmas Décor Winter Light Spectacular” continues through Dec. 29, Lehigh Valley Zoo, 5150 Game Preserve Road, Schnecksville. In addition to 1.2 million lights, said to be more than that at any other holiday lights attraction in Pennsylvania, there are a pair of reindeer, holiday scenes, performances, interactions with characters, fire pits and hot chocolate. Pip is back: “The Magic Before Christmas,” Nov. 29 - Dec. 31, Liberty Bell Museum, 622 W. Hamilton St., Allentown. recreates the holiday puppet show, “The Mouse Before Christmas,” which made its world premiere in 1962 in the front window of Hess’s Department Store, Ninth and Hamilton streets, Allentown. In the 1970s, the Pip The Mouse show was moved to Hess’s fifth floor Community Room. After Bon-Ton purchased Hess’s, the show continued until 1996 when the Allentown store closed. Bon-Ton donated the show to the Allentown Economic and Development Corp. The show was presented 1996 - 2001 at several venues, including the Allentown Public Library. Volunteers from Civic Theatre of Allentown restored the puppet show stage 2001 - 2002. The stage and props were given to the Liberty Bell Museum in 2003. The Creegan Company produced stages for 15 department stores in the United States during the 1960s, but the Liberty Bell Museum at Zion’s United Church of Christ, the “Liberty Bell Church” where the Liberty Bell is said to have been hidden in 1777 during the Revolutionary War, has the only surviving show. In addition, there’s the exhibit, “Trees, Trains and Traditions,” and “Little Shoppers’ Village,” the latter, noon - 4 p.m. Nov. 29 - Dec. 1.
