STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Q. Who are the members of your family: parents, siblings and pets?
A. My family consists of my mom, Tracy, my dad, Dave, my younger brother, Alden, and my two dogs, Lacey and Shiloh.
Q. What do you most enjoy about being a senior at Emmaus High School?
A. I like the comfort of being a senior. After three years at Emmaus, I returned this year excited to see my friends and at ease with my schedule and classes.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is economics. I have always been interested in history and social studies classes, as well as the evolution of consumerism and commerce over time. It is interesting to learn how these ideas are influenced by supply and demand and economic productivity, and my teacher, Mr. Parish, makes learning about the many different graphs fun and engaging.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I have received certain academic awards for obtaining high grades in my classes and am currently a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and French Honor Society. The first for my grades in all classes and care for my community, and the next two for specifically the grades in my Spanish and French classes.
Q. What are your favorite extracurricular activities?
A. Currently, I am the head of the costume crew for the plays and musicals at school. I enjoy spending time with the friends I have met through the theater department and shows and being a part of these productions. Outside of school, I also dance. In the next few months, I will be performing in a number of ballets at Symphony Hall, including the Nutcracker in December. I have been dancing for 15 years and love sharing the stage with some of my closest friends.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. After high school, I hope to attend college to major in international relations.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. Balancing my time between school and my extracurriculars has been the biggest challenge for me. Some nights it is difficult to finish assignments after a long night of dance, especially during the times I am involved in the play and musical. Thankfully I have study halls during school that help me complete some of my work before my after school activities.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I hope to be remembered as a caring and encouraging friend, as well as a hardworking and dedicated member of my community.
Q. Whom do you admire? Why?
A. I admire my friends for the way they have all impacted me. They help me through hard times and encourage me to achieve my goals and I would not be the person I am without them.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. The best advice I can give is to not let the little things get to you. A bad test grade or small mistake won’t ruin the rest of your life so don’t let it ruin even one day. Learn from your mistakes and keep trying.
