Lisa Wolff, senior manager, special projects, Center for Humanistic Change, delivered an informative presentation recently at Salisbury High School on the HOPE program for parents, residents and interested individuals and families. An additional presentation was also given during the day for students and faculty.
This HOPE program was developed by the Center for Humanistic Change for everyone to learn about opioids and heroin as well as their effects on one’s body, health, relationships and the future. There were visuals showing what it looks like, common ways it can be used and the addiction and withdrawal processes. They also help find treatment programs locally for those struggling with addiction or those with family members or friends who are in need of resources.
HOPE stands for Heroin and Opioid Prevention and Education and was designed in response to the heroin and opioid crisis.
In addition to Wolff speaking and educating everyone on this topic, there were mothers present to speak. The mothers talked about their children who they lost to heroin.
Wolff said if you missed this event, look for an upcoming presentation in the area and go and listen. Addiction is something that can happen to anyone and you could save a life knowing what to look for or how it affects the individuals, families and everyone around that person.
Don’t forget to check the Salisbury School District website for upcoming events and presentations. The school invites outside agencies to come in to speak and educate families about many issues that are currently affecting teens.
